I'd personally slot Belesky on the third. It could lessen the pressure on him, and I REALLY want to see Loui in a top 6 role. I don't think we've seen his best yet

Regardless I think this 3rd could be a matchup nightmare and should help the B's increase their scoring

1st Line;

Belesky/Eriksson Krecji Connelly

2nd Line;

Marchand Bergeron Hayes

3rd Line;

Belesky/Eriksson Spooner Pasta

4th Line;

Rinaldo Kelly Talbot

Belesky is probably more suited for the 3rd line with his style of play, and he would provide some grit and more "muscle" than Eriksson would. Krecji and Eriksson seemed to never really hit it off on the ice but there might not be any other option at this point.

I'm really interested to Connelly, and I think people are sleeping on this kid. He was very highly rated coming out of junior, has a wicked shot, and with first line minutes and playing with a great set-up man, Brett might hit the 30 goal mark. I expect 25-30 goals from him.

Hayes on the 2nd line so he could add some size to that line and to give him a chance to see what he could do with 2nd line minutes. Hoping for 20 goals from him.

I don't think Belesky provides the defensive insurance on the third line that would be needed

Ty, trade talks with Nashville for a D-man?

We would trade away serious scoring.....cough, cough Krejci.......? Marchand?

Sweeney making trades scares me..........

If they were to trade Bergy I would would probably take a couple years off, not that anyone would care. But, it would be "turtle mode" like after the Thornton trade.

Marchand for Weber. I can get behind that. Other than that, IDK about this rumour

I could as well, obviously.

Would that be enough though? Maybe they would want Krejci instead?

I wish we would add more speed and skill to the top nine, and Marchand traded would be the opposite of that.

Although, a Weber in the Spoked B would be magical.

EDIT: other board someone suggested Ericksson for Ryan Ellis. Ellis seems like a Krug duplicate, but is signed for a few more years at $2.5 per. Maybe we would then try to flip Krug.........?

I don't like Ellis and don't think he is worth Erikson. I would keep Krug over Ellis.

I dcon't think anyone would be worth a "high scorer" unless it's Weber or Josi? Seth Jones would be nice but not worth Krej

I agree with you on most parts.

But, Krug is going to be commanding $4.5 maybe a little more after this season. More likely $5.5 long term (5-6 years.)

I really can't see how Krug would be worth that to the Bs unless we want to completely go run and gun style hockey. ($3.5 presently.......he has big eyes for this upcoming season.)

Yeah, depending on his season. He thinks he's going to develop and is ready for 2nd line minutes, but it is yet to be seen. If he develops his defensive game, he may be worth 4-5 on the second pairing with Seids. With Seids and Chara coming off the books in a few years it would be good to have someone young but with some experience locked up for the future (Other than Mcquaid lol). Unless of course Morrow, the Millers, Irwin, Trotman all reach their potential...

I think the B's have had ample opportunites to trade Marchand and havent, so i'm pretty sure he's staying at least for the moment.

My money is on Krejci. After being Mister Glass (unbreakable reference) last year, and him being a phantom the post-season before, i think he's expendable.

Saying Krejci is expendable because of one injury riddled season and one mediocre postseason (one in which everyone on the team was mediocre at best) is pure lunacy. The idea that he would be an option in a trade for a defenseman doesn't make much sense. He's one of our only actual "scoring threats". With so many question marks on offense it would be silly to move your first line center without something SUBSTANTIAL coming back.

Points for the Unbreakable reference though, awesome movie

Maybe the B's finally part ways with koko.... after the whole russia thing came up maybe he's been more vocal about playing in the NHL and not in Prov. they could package Koko with Eriksson and Seidenberg and send them to Nashville for Roman Josi and a pick.

I still think the B's should trade Kevan Miller and Chris Kelly to Ottawa for Patrick Wiercioch.

So a top 6 forward (questionably), a middle pairing defenseman, and one of our top prospects for a top pairing defenseman, and what pick? A first? A second? I would hope it would be a first for that package. Though I don't expect Nashville to finish in the lottery.

I would be okay with them moving out Krecji to Nashville if Mike Fisher were part of the package coming back. Though he just re-signed with Nashville, so it would seem a bit odd to sign then trade him. If it was something like Josi/Jones/Weber and Fisher for Krecji and Krug/prospect... I could live with that. I wouldn't be psyched to see Krug go, but I agree with the sentiment that he'll command too much money for Boston to keep him, so if they can get something in return now, I'll take it.

Could we flip this and trade them defense for scoring? We'll trade them Chara and we get Filip Forsberg

I just don't know who they could be shopping besides him. Unless its Marchand, who i really don't want to see moved. I always hated trading scoring for defense and would much rather see some of the kids get a shot instead of us trading more precious points away, of which there arent many to spare.

On a side note, Unbreakable is definitely the best of Shamayalans movies.

I think it's just something to talk about it... it's been pretty quiet for a while now. I don't think anyone is thinking this is 100% going to happen, but it's fun to discuss the possibilities while nothing else is going on.

Personally I was way more hyped on the Byfuglien rumor... but it clearly seems like there's nothing going on there.

Anything to hold me over until the season starts!

(takes a huge rip from crack pipe) Absolutely. Julien employs so much run and gun in his scheme.

Yeah, except unfortunately we all know Claude probably won't make it through the season, and who knows who the next guy will be, but I would put money on the fact that he wont have a similar philosophy/style to Claude.
